Senior Executive Vice President, Global Agent & ISO Sales
John Barrett heads Payroc’s independent sales organization (ISO) and sales agent channel. He is responsible for revenue generation with profit and loss accountability. A seasoned sales and sales operations executive, Barrett has significant experience in payments, telecommunications, and business services. Most recently, Barrett was U.S. president for NXGEN, a global merchant services provider serving more than 13,000 merchants located in 30 countries across the globe, where he was responsible for direct and indirect sales channels.
Under his leadership, NXGEN experienced double-digit growth and introduced industry-leading solutions that drove agents, engagement, and sales. Prior to NXGEN, Barrett spent 10 years with First Data as senior vice president of sales, leading the payment giant’s third-party distribution channel consisting of more than 600 independent sales organizations and 200 plus independent sales agents generating over $550 million in annual revenue. Earlier in his career, Barrett was regional vice president of sales for MCI (now part of Verizon), and a district systems sales manager for Xerox. Barrett served on the Electronic Transactions Association’s Board of Directors for six years and recently served on the Association’s Strategic Leadership Forum Planning and Awards & Recognition committees. Barrett additionally served on Elavon’s Merchant Services Provider (MSP) advisory committee.
A sought-after payments industry speaker, Barrett frequently participates as a speaker and panelist at conference educational sessions, including ETA TRANSACT, Northeast Acquirers Association, Southeast Acquirers Association, Midwest Acquirers Association, and Western States Acquirers Association. Barrett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and marketing management, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing and finance, from the University of Southern California.
